Development of Luxury Apartments & Detached Dwellings
4D Architects Studio were appointed in late 2019 to design a bespoke apartment block and 2 detached dwellings. The apartments consist of six 2-bedroom apartments and one 3-bedroom penthouse apartment, this element of the project is awaiting planning consent. The houses are 4-bedroom dwellings over 3 floors with the main living space occupying the top floor to take advantage of the unique stunning views of Fistral Beach.
The brief for the houses was to design 2 bespoke 4-bedroom family dwellings that maximised the opportunities of the site. The site is located a stone’s throw from the beautiful Fistral Bay in Newquay, making the most of the views of the beach and the surrounding coastline formed a key driver in the development of the design. As a result, the houses benefit from stunning views of the Atlantic Coast from first and second floor levels. To further maximise the enjoyment of the views, the master bedroom and living spaces have large external terraces.
The external design of the houses is contemporary with the use of traditional material finishes of natural slate hanging, timber and painted render. The houses are designed to step back from the site frontage to provide the terraces and minimise overlooking of adjacent properties. The natural slate has been used on the primary coastal elevation to help protect the building from the harsh coastal environment and minimise future maintenance.
