Refurbishment & Extension of Existing Bungalow
In late 2019, 4D Architects Studio were appointed by a private client who had recently purchased a dilapidated three-bedroom bungalow with the intention of undertaking a substantial refurbishment. This bungalow had been extended on numerous occasions which had resulted in a collection of compromised and unconnected spaces.
Our brief was to rationalise the convoluted layout and create a flow that reconnects all existing and new spaces whilst adding a fourth bedroom and ensuring all habitable rooms were generous and useable.
The brief was fulfilled by providing two modest extensions which created much needed additional space, opening up the central circulation staircase and flooding the space with light via strategically positioned rooflights and replanning the layout to create an organic flow that effortlessly connects the spaces.
The design has resulted in a beautifully striking family home that, when completed, become the fifth most viewed property across the UK on Rightmove throughout the festive period of 2021.
